What do you think of on Valentine’s Day? Hearts made of Chocolate? Roses from a loved One? Or a marriage proposal from a boyfriend to be his bride forever?
Well I have the story of the greatest Valentine given to each and every one of us. I was given this gift to share with all of you who happen upon my blog. You see God has all of us on a unique journey because He is a very personal God, He created you and I for a specific time, and a specific purpose that is in line with our respective giftings and anointings. It is my anointing and message to share the often bewildering and amazing coincidences that tie the natural to the supernatural of God, and the amazing to the ordinary.
It was January 20, 2007. I clearly felt an instruction from the Lord to go to “PetSmart” the local pet store. Birds have always fascinated me, and I have owned 3-4 parrots. When I arrived at PetSmart, I found a beautiful set of diamond doves. I was contemplating purchasing them, so began to do a bit of research. It was during my research that I happened to learn about a specific species of Dove or Pigeon named “Bleeding Heart Doves” which I found to be absolutely beautiful. As I thought about my fascinating find, the Lord spoke to me every so clearly his reasons for placing the peculiar mark of a “Bleeding Heart upon doves/pigeons. Why did the God of the Universe choose a foraging lowly pigeon/dove to showcase His Love to the world, why not a Dog? Or a Cat, or a plethora of other birds? But specifically the species of a Dove/Pigeon. It is because God wanted to showcase His Love in a wonderful and unique way.
In association with Yeshua/Jesus who personified a “Bleeding Heart” as he went about healing, raising people from death, and performing miracles, the term is particularly applicable. As I pondered over my discovery, Scripture provided even more proof of God’s creation and sovereignty. There are at least four separate instances which make mention of the Spirit of God descending in the likeness of a Dove upon Him as he was mikvahed/baptized (see. Mat 3:16, Mar 1:10, Luke 3:22, and Jhn 1:32). Interestingly He is often referred to as a the Righteous Branch in(Jer 23:5 and 33:15, and then in Zech 3:8 and Zech 6:12). In the beginning verses of Genesis we see that the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters in Gen 1:2. There is also reference made that it was a Dove that brought a plucked Olive leaf branch (see Gen 8:11). God is a God of order and Completion, thus it is amazing that upon the Baptism of Yeshua/Jesus the Branch of Israel had the Spirit of God lit upon him in the form of a Dove.
Yet the Love of God becomes even more clear because in John 19:34 we find upon his crucifixion, a soldier pierced his side which resulted a flow of blood and water. Thus, the Heart of the Son of God was pierced in the physical and in the spiritual (which is spoken of prophetically in Isa 53:5, Zech 12:10, and Rev 1:7 (when He returns) to fetch His Bride the Church and Israel His Wife (see Rev 21:9).
Amazingly Yeshua/Jesus promises to all of those that believe in Him as the Son of God, Lord and Savior, that He will not leave them comfortless, but send His Holy Spirit to comfort them and their broken hearts. In fact, in Acts 2:37 the followers of Messiah were pierced in their hearts upon being convicted of their own sinfulness upon hearing of how his precious blood was shed for them (see Acts 2:21-2:38). I find it interesting that upon their repentance, baptism, and remission, they were promised the “Gif of the Holy Spirit). Just as amazing is how God has placed the mark of a Bleeding Heart upon a Dove as a gift to all of us, since the Holy Spirit is often depicted as in the form of a Dove
Historically and Biblically, doves have often been symbols of righteousness, peace and sacrifice. Doves are often said to be of a gentle nature, highly intelligent, and easily tamed. Interestingly when it came for the dedication of Yeshua/Jesus his parents at the Temple, in accordance with keeping of the Levitical Laws as his parents were Jewish and his Father was of the lineage from the House of King David, they presented two doves (See Luke 2:32). On a side note, according to Levitical Law, when a woman bore a male child, her time of purification was (33), three and thirty days (See. Lev 12:4). Yeshua/Jesus was said be (33) years of age when He was crucified.
We are all sinners, none of us is perfect, except for the One true Son of God who came and gave His life as a ransom for many. His Love is amazingly reflected in His Creation (See Col 1:16). As the Lord spoke to me, He revealed that the reason why He created the “Bleeding Heart Dove/Pigeon” was as a sign to the world of the suffering of His Son, the Pierced Heart of His Son, who died for all of us, yet now He lives, and His triumph and love are reflected in this beautiful bird.
According to “The New Story of Science” by Robert Augros and George Stanciu: “A universe aiming at the production of man implies a mind directing it,” they further state: “Though man is not at the physical center of the universe, he appears to be at the center of its purpose.” Yes, I believe that we are God’s creation made for His purpose and somehow to shine His light of His Son.
Lastly, it is quite difficult to make a distinction between the male or female of the Bleeding Heart Dove/Pigeon thus proving the validity of Gal 3:28 (there is no male nor female…all are One in Him).
